What a year! 2013 was great for the Casa de Campo community, we enjoyed endless good times – with special events and activities of all kinds throughout the year. Meanwhile, we were also THRILLED to receive quiet a number of impressive celebrity guests from Rihanna to Micheal Jordan. Here we bring you a summary of the most memorable moments of 2013. Enjoy and happy new year!
On Saturday the 19th of January 2013, the Fundación MIR celebrated its 22nd annual fundraising event “The Magical Splendor for Life” and as we entered through an archway in the shape of a Tiffany’s Box and were greeted with a chorus of “Buenas Noches” by the smiling and adorable faces of the children of the MIR schools – we knew it was going to be an outstanding evening.
Hats (and shoes) off to the Hogar del Niño! On Saturday the 16th of February 2013, to close the Hogar del Niño fundraising weekend the Hogar del Niño, having chosen Minitas Beach as the venue for the party,took the concept of “beach party” and ran with it… creating a party I’m sure none of us will ever forget!
On Saturday the 23rd of February 2013, a traditional “Carnaval Dominicano” took place in the Marina Casa de Campo – which normally admired for it’s beautiful architecture and relaxed ambience akin to the best marina’s of Italy – came to life with all the excitement, vibrant colors, drums, music and festive ambience synonymous with the Dominican Carnival season as experienced in La Romana, Santo Domingo or La Vega.
Casa de Campo, the paradise we call home, is sometimes also called a “playground for the rich and famous” – which when you count all the celebrities we’ve seen here over the years (Beyonce and Jay-Z, the Kardashians, Vin Diesel, Pitbull, the Jonas Brothers, Hugh Grant, Marc Anthony, Akon, Sarah Jessica Parker, Amaury Nolasco, Cameron Diaz etc, etc….) is in many ways true – and now that Drake, a famous Canadian rapper has just released a video recorded here – Casa de Campo has just become more “rock and roll” than ever!
On Tuesday the 19th of February, Soprano Anthonia Chabebe and Tenor Juan Cuevas raised their voices along with pianist Elioenai Medina during a private, by-invitation-only opera concert to raise funds for the Hogar del Niño’s Sport and Cultural Pavilion, an occasion hosted by Casa de Campo villa owners Mario and Nicoletta Galletto.
Earlier on Monday the 25th of March, Bill Clinton former President of the United States of America was here in Casa de Campo – playing a round of golf on the Teeth of the Dog.
Yes it’s true! Michael Jeffrey Jordan, considered to be the greatest basketball player of all time was in Casa de Campo this weekend celebrating his bachelor party! And although you may have already heard this news – have you heard the details?
There can be no doubt that Xiomara Menéndez is one of Casa de Campo’s great ladies – and a fabulous hostess. Without fail each and every occasion hosted at her oceanside villa in the Bahía Minitas area of Casa de Campo is simply spectacular and the recent “Adopt a Crib” dinner was no exception.
A magnificent annual tradition, the first part of the “Casa de Campo Sugar” tournaments; the Sugar Golf Tournament hosted by Alfy Fanjul was played with the participation of nearly 400 international golfers was celebrated last week from the 3rd to the 6th of April 2013. Whilst the second part of the “Casa de Campo Sugar” tournaments; the Sugar Shooting Tournament hosted by J.Pepe Fanjul, will be played next week from the 23rd to the 28th of April 2013.
Polo party time! On Saturday the 30th of March (Sábado Santo), the finals of the annual Semana Santa Polo tournament were played at the Casa de Campo Polo fields – an occasion celebrated with a party fit for the king – or at least the sport of kings!
Another Semana Santa party! This Semana Santa we partied all through the week – ending the festivities at the Praia party at the Marina Casa de Campo on Saturday night the 30th of March – with no other than handsome Prison Break actor Amaury Nolasco!
The magnificent 295 ft sailing yacht “Athena” for sale for US$95 million, is quiet possibly the most beautiful sailing yacht every to visit the Marina Casa de Campo resort! What a beauty!
I was looking back at the extensive list of concerts that have been celebrated during the last 30 years at the Altos de Chavon amphitheatre, it was a tremendous surprise NOT to see one of the most popular names of the music industry in Latin America – the artist that last Saturday the 8th of June 2013, entertained from beginning to the end, more than 5,000 fans while performing at this prestigious venue!
As one of Casa de Campo’s most famous regular visitors, it is always a pleasure to find a photo of Vin Diesel enjoying a little leisure time at the resort.
The Fundación MIR, on Saturday the 10th of August, treated more than 400 guests to a marvellous day of events and activities – starting with a tennis tournament at the La Terraza Tennis Club, followed by a golf tournament at the La Romana Country Club and closing with a magical dinner-dance at Minitas Beach.
On Saturday the 21st of September 2013, the Altos de Chavon amphitheater was, once again, a tremendous venue for what was indeed a memorable evening – where more than 5,000 attendees joined Pitbull – Mr. 305 – in an unforgettable concert for the Hogar del Niño!
On Saturday the 26th of October, the ladies of Casa de Campo were treated to quiet a handsome sight at the Casa de Campo polo fields – the one and only Nacho Figueras!
The Fundación MIR was extremely honored to receive a visit from the Walkabout Foundation on Thursday the 10th of September, who came to donate wheelchairs to a number of children and adults with paralysis and other disabilities.
On Sunday the 17th of November, the editorial team of SILGON, a modern media company based in Casa de Campo was in Agora Mall with baseball legend Tony Peña to launch the 2nd edition of INMORTALES.
The Marina Fashion Show last Friday the 15th of November at the “Plaza Victory” in the Marina Casa de Campo, was the perfect combination of fashion, fun and philanthropy.
On Friday the 13th of December, Altos de Chavón marked the start of the festive season with the celebration of the opening of the holiday season, a spectacular occasion with the lighting of the Christmas tree, Santa Claus and performance by the Dominican Wind Orchestra.
On Thursday the 19th of December, CasaLife magazine celebrated “Something Special” at The Club Lounge in Altos de Chavón, an occasion sponsored by Chivas Regal 18, Arturo Fuente cigars and Belvedere vodka.
