Polo party time! Last Saturday the 30th of March (Sábado Santo), the finals of the annual Semana Santa Polo tournament were played at the Casa de Campo Polo fields – an occasion celebrated with a party fit for the king – or at least the sport of kings!
Some of the Dominican Republic’s top polo teams competed in this year’s Semana Santa Polo Tournament played between the 15th and the 30th of March, battling it out to be crowned the champions in 2 divisions “Handicap” and “Open”. Of the 4 competing teams, 3 were familiar faces of the Casa de Campo Polo Club, whilst 1 team – Power Infrastructure travelled from Argentina especially to take part in this prestigious annual tournament.

The 4 participating teams were: Power Infrastructure (Miguel Mendoza, Santiago Schwietzer, Marcelo Amadeo y Videla, Omar Gorosito), Lechuza (Enrique Bonetti, Alfredo Vargas, Johnny Alvarez, Dennis Santana), Los Garcia (Rafa Garcia, R Garcia, Teto Castillo, Heriberto Constanza) and La Carbuccia Dewars 12 (Luis Alfonso Paniagua, Mario Villegas, Fermin Iturrioz, Luis Arturo Carbuccia).
And so when the big day finally arrived, it was Los Garcia against La Carbuccia Dewars 12 who played in the “Handicap” final, and Power Infrastructure vs. La Lechuza competing for the “Open” championship. And whilst the polo ponies and their fearless riders thundered up and down the field, the party organised by Lendof & Associates was in full swing.
With an arched entrance, a polo pub promoting the new initiative “Polo in the City” which starts on the 20th of April at the Santo Domingo Heliport, and a vast canopy creating the main party / viewing area, the several hundred spectators enjoyed an endless supply of champagne, beer, martini cocktails and whiskey, accompanied by excellent music and an electric atmosphere sparked with good times!
Amongst the crowd were many Casa de Campo villa owners, vistors in Casa de Campo for Semana Santa, as well as sponsor’s of the event such as Hakan Senaltan from Los Delfines a waterpark opening soon on the main road between San Pedro and Santo Domingo – pictured right with Philip Silvestri President and CEO of Silgon Inc., Marketing, Web Development & Publishing Services.

As well as trophies for the winning teams, both Luis Arturo Carbuccia and Alfredo Vargas were recognised as the Most Valuable Players in the “Handicap” and “Open” division respectively, with Agustina owned by Alfredo Vargas honored as the Best Playing Pony.
With live music, a beautiful DJ, a fashion show and plenty more champagne and cocktails the party continued long after sunset!

Chivas sponsors the Sunset Jazz Night and the new TODO Casa de Campo makes a debut!
Last Thursday the 28th of March, as the Semana Santa celebrations were getting underway, the hugely popular Sunset Jazz Night at the Azimut Café in the Marina Casa de Campo was celebrated – an event sponsored by Silgon Inc., Marketing, Web Development & Publishing Services and Chivas Regal 12, and which was also the first public outing of the new edition of TODO Casa de Campo! As guests enjoyed the beautiful musical melody of the live jazz, the crowd were treated to a brindis of Chivas Regal 12 fine Scottish whiskey, as well as a photographic art exhibit presented by Maria Rosa Jimenez, Clara Martinez Thedy and Sandra Garip. Elegantly lit in a variety of electric colors, the photographic works of the guest artists, seemed to glow against the ominously dark sky. Click here for photos and the full story!
