Last Sunday the 17th of November, the editorial team of SILGON, a modern media company based in Casa de Campo was in Agora Mall with baseball legend Tony Peña to launch the 2nd edition of INMORTALES, The official publication of the Latino Baseball Hall of Fame. SILGON was also celebrating the launch of INMORTALES.do, a new website also dedicated to latino baseball.
The Latino Baseball Hall of Fame (Salón de la Fama del Béisbil Latino – SFBL), founded by Casa de Campo villa owner Roberto Weill with Alfy Fanjul in 2009, opened a travelling photography exhibit in Agora Mall, Santo Domingo at the beginning of the month, following which it has hosted a series of baseball events at the popular shopping centre.
Last Sunday one of these events was the launch of the second edition of INMORTALES magazine, published by SILGON (creators of CasaLife, casadecampoliving.com, TODO Casa de Campo and TODO La Romana – Bayahibe). During the activity, Rebecca Hughes, editor of INMORTALES, joined by Philip Silvestri, founder and CEO of SILGON joined Roberto Weill and Tony Peña on the stage for the official launch.
Also taking part, selling the magazine to the hundreds of gathered baseball fans were members of the SILGON editorial team; Fernando Concepcion, assistant editor; Laura Perdomo, our designer and a graduate from the Altos de Chavón School of Art and Design; Lenny Castillo, editorial department assistant and Genesis Perdomo.
Following the presentation of the magazine, the audience enjoyed a speech and question and answer session with Tony Peña, a great Dominican baseball player, who was inducted into the Latino Baseball Hall of fame in 2012. Tony Peña was also the manager of the Dominican Baseball team who were victorious in the World Baseball Classic earlier this year – an achievement we proudly celebrate in this new issue of INMORTALES.
Also taking part in the activity was Octavio “Cookie” Rojas from Cuba, inducted into the Latino Baseball Hall of Fame in February of this year.
To end the celebration both Octavio “Cookie” Rojas and Tony Peña visited the travelling photography exhibit on the 2nd floor of Agora Mall, where they signed their photographs, as well as signed their autographs in INMORTALES magazine.
INMORTALES edition #3 will be published in February 2014.
