This year’s Flavors of the World has been dedicated to Latin America, with chef’s coming from Guadalajara, Chile, Bolivia and Argentina. Next week, Casa de Campo will he hosting yet another gastronomic weekend this time with chef Carlos García who will be bringing along with him all the techniques, stories and flavors of Venezuela.
Carlos García is the co-owner and chef Alto Restaurant in Caracas, a place where his proposal of contemporary Venezuelan cuisine combines the interpretation of a territory through edible metaphors, direct links with local producers, and a constant inquiry into the culinary repertoire of the country. In 2007, the Venezuelan Academy of Gastronomy awarded him the “Tenedor de Oro” as Chef of the Year, and when the prestigious list The World’s 50 Best premiered its Latin American chapter in 2013, Alto won as the best restaurant in Venezuela occupying position #25.
Chef Carlos is also the main ambassador of Venezuelan products and seasoning in different parts of the world, considered among the best in Latin America, he studied at the Hoffman School of Hospitality, in Barcelona Spain, in 1996. He did internships at restaurants such as El Bulli (1998), El Celler de Can Roca (2005), among others. In 1991 he started working in Venezuela, in several restaurants and then got the opportunity to be chef at Malabar (2003 -2007), where he gained great recognition and respect in Caracas, with his creative cooking proposal. At the end of 2007, he opened his own restaurant Alto and recently the doors of Obra Kitchen Table in the city of Miami.

The Flavors of the World Venezuela with Chef Carlos García will will feature an inaugural dinner on Friday the 5th with the Chef’s best dishes; a collaborative four-handed dinner pairing in together with the guest chef the Santiago Gómez on Saturday 6 October. Both dinners will be at the emblematic restaurant La Piazzetta in Altos de Chavón from 8 p.m with a cost of US$125 per person. On Sunday, the traditional brunch á la carte at Minitas Beach Club, with culinary creations by Anthony Masas chef Resort Executive. This Flavors of the World is one you will not want to miss!
