ABOUT INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY
This year marks the ninth annual celebration of International Yoga Day. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi initially proposed the concept of a global yoga day. June 21st was chosen as the date, coinciding with the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, the year’s longest day.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi once stated, “Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It embodies the unity of mind and body, thought and action, restraint and fulfillment, and harmony between humankind and nature. It is not just about physical exercise but also a means to discover a sense of oneness with oneself, the world, and nature. By changing our lifestyle and fostering awareness, we can contribute to addressing climate change. Let us strive to embrace International Yoga Day as a collective endeavor.”
