After a memorable dinner on Friday by Chef Alba Esteve Ruiz, and what we hear was a formidable collaboration on Saturday between Chef Esteve and Anthony Masas, Executive Chef for Casa de Campo Resort & Villas, we were anxious for Sunday to roll around to enjoy the traditional Sunday Brunch at the Beach Club by Le Cirque at Minitas Beach.

flavors of the world

Known as the only socially acceptable setting for drinking before noon, brunch treats us to a refined menu of dishes  perfect for those who roll out of bed late after a night out of dancing and fun. Flavors of the World: Italy Edition presented an extensive menu of sweet and savory dishes integrating Italian staple ingredients in the classic brunch favorites like Eggs Benedict, Pancakes, Chilaquiles, Scrambled Egg Toasts, and so many others. The equally extensive cocktail menu was a favorite with the crowd.

Getting a coveted table at the Flavors of the World Sunday Brunches is not something you contemplate the day-of, and this Sunday was no exception. The awaited brunch was as much of a social event as it was an opportunity for groups of late-night revelers to enjoy a long session of Saturday-night debriefs with coffee and drinks in hand–add a spectacular setting like Minitas Beach, and you have yourself a mid day event resembling the iconic New York brunches.

For me, this past Sunday’s brunch became an extended opportunity to say goodbye to a friend who leaves Casa for a few months…over chit chat, cocktails and delicious food. We were greeted with a signature gin cocktail before noon, and that set the tone for the delicious meal to follow. Shortly thereafter we got a tray of fruits, banana bread, chocolate and almond muffins. While I was pretty much ready to wrap up the meal then, we still had to order two dishes each. We were enticed by the stuffed avocado with scrambled eggs, toasts, chilaquiles and pancakes…and in due brunch fashion, we ordered them all! A delicious meal from top to finish.

While Flavors of the World allows us to take part of exciting evening meals with renowned international chefs, the easiness of a not-so-formal brunch seems to be what is taking Casa de Campo by storm. If like us, you love everything about brunch, be sure to make your reservation for the next Flavors of the World Brunch – Mexico style, only 3 weekends away! Details to come!
