The Sugar Shooting Tournament hosted annually by J. Pepe Fanjul has quite the number of games for shooting enthusiasts, and the 30th anniversary edition commenced earlier this week. Invited guests are able to enjoy Casa de Campo’s world class shooting facilities as they participate in Sporting Clays, Colombaire, and Partridge & Pheasant Game Shooting, the latter of which takes place at Rancho Peligro, a 10,000 acre beautiful wilderness reserve owned by the Central Romana Corporation.
Wednesday morning we were able to witness the 200 Partridge & Pheasant Shoot, attended by top-shooters who travel yearly from Texas, California, and the U.K to name a few to compete. In attendance were Mason and his father Lawrence Berry, Andrés Fanjul, Phillip Sarofim, William Burkland, and Joseph Scheerer, along with host J. Pepe Fanjul. Participants flew in by helicopter, a short ride from the Casa de Campo resort, for a scenic view of the Dominican Republic’s rolling hills and breathtaking landscape. Over the warm morning, shooters took up their positions at two different hills. For the event, William says the best part of the Partridge & Pheasant Shoot was, “The beautiful presentation of birds and great backdrop, as well as the company of good friends and reconnecting.”
