On Saturday, April 1st the golfers and guests of the 32nd annual Sugar Golf Tournament celebrated the end to another very successful event. The magnificent 4-day affair, gathering together some of the world’s most interesting and successful businessmen and women, headed by Alfy Fanjul, president and CEO of the Central Romana Corporation, was once again an occasion to remember.

Arriving at the La Romana Country Club (LRCC) for the party and prize giving ceremony, golfers and their companions had the opportunity to relax, drink, and show off their dance moves! Those who had not been able to visit the MIR Sugar Bazaar got a chance to see the beauties on display. Tables and booths filled the clubhouse with local and international vendors with all kinds of tempting products. A portion of sales from the bazaar went to benefit Fundación MIR.

As guests sipped on cocktails by the pool and shared their days’ experiences with the rest of the Sugar Golf Tournament participants, they congratulated the winners and already began speaking about next year’s event. The beautifully illuminated outdoor area of the LRCC and music by DJ Gilbert added to the friendly and fun atmosphere. During the buffet style dinner, Alfy Fanjul thanked guests for joining him in what turned out to be another great year.

As per tradition, Alfy Fanjul led the prize-giving ceremony accompanied by his daughters Crista Ryan and Lillian Fernandez. This was the moment everyone was waiting for – when the winners of this prestigious tournament were presented with their trophies and prize money! The ladies were gifted beautiful jewelry by Everett’s Designs (based in Altos de Chavón and longtime supporters of the tournament), as well as lovely embroidered napkins from Batey. Male golfers, on the other hand, received La Romana Country Club pins, and for one lucky winner an elegant custom made Italian suit by KITON courtesy of Benetti Yachts. They all received shiny silver trophies to mark the occasion. After the awards ceremony, the group Dekadas performed on stage and had everyone dancing in no time.  It was a wonderful event and the perfect end to an extraordinary weekend!
