Even though the 2017 Sugar Bazaar took place on April 1st, a classic day for pranks, this event was all about some serious fashion! While men and lady golfers were out on the green, the bazaar hosted a Ladies Luncheon for Casa de Campo community members and guests and a fashion show by Indulge Boutique from Santo Domingo. The show which featured resort wear and accessories caught the eye of many attendees in the crowd, some even venturing to purchase styles right off the runway!
Students from the Fundación MIR modeled in the show and did an excellent job. The collection’s predominately white styles in varying cuts and fabrics are a perfect fit for spring afternoons and evenings in the resort. Crocheted florals or easy to wear separates stood out while not requiring a lot of additional accessories. Plus, a wide variety of beach coverups that were showcased are just the thing to spice up your swim attire. Layer your suit with one of Indulge Boutique’s embroidered chiffon dresses or wraps and you’ll find that you need little more to complete this year’s snazzy looks.
As guests filed in to fill their lunch plates with delicious goodies catered by the La Romana Country Club that included veggies, deli meats, a noteworthy lentil salad, and beautiful pastries and puddings for dessert, smaller girls from the Fundación MIR danced merengue in traditional Dominican costumes. This adorable addition to the afternoon helped remind ladies of the important work the Fundación MIR does and how significant the community’s contributions are throughout the Sugar Golf Tournament and year in the lives of these children.
The foundation, which runs three schools in La Romana, held their annual Magical Splendor Gala back in January, drawing international support including fashion designer Naeem Khan, and looks forward to its next event — the Sugar Shooting Tournament at the end of this month.
