Growing older, it happens to all of us and if you haven’t been taking care of your nutrition it can start to show not only in your health but also your skin, hair and nails.
The good news is that even if you haven’t taken the best care of yourself it is never too late to start. Here are some wonderful foods to help you be healthy on the inside and look gorgeous on the outside. Add them to your regular diet and try using them externally as well for even more of a beauty boost.
Avocado is high in vitamins A, B, C, E and potassium and even contains protein and heart healthy fats. Add it to your salads, slather it on toast with a sprinkle of sea salt or even toss a piece into a smoothie for added creaminess. You can also make your hair and skin brighter by mixing an avocado with olive oil and using it as a conditioner or facial mask.
Its anti-microbial, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties are said to promote weight loss and promote heart health. Switch to coconut for your high heat
cooking and even keep some in your bathroom. The oil will liquefy when warmed (it’s solid when cold), and you can smooth it over your entire body every night before bed.
They’re a great source of protein and are loaded with vitamins and minerals. Adding nuts to your salad or making some home made trail mix for snacks is a great idea. My favorites are walnuts (great for brain and thyroid health), almonds, pecans, macadamias and Brazil nuts. Try brightening your complexion by very finely grinding some raw almonds, mixing it with a little honey and gently scrubbing your face and neck.
Olives or Olive Oil
High in vitamin E and antioxidants, olives make a great snack or addition to salads. Olive oil also makes a great conditioner. Add a few drops of your
favorite citrus essential oil, condition into your hair and then sit outside in the sun for a few minutes to let your hair soak in all the goodness.
