This Saturday, December 9th as part of this year’s holiday program, the Elizabeth de Zeller Ballet Academy, will present their traditional annual ballet show at the Altos de Chavón amphitheater. In this year’s show, they will perform “The Doll House”,a story of magic and imagination where dolls come to life!
Rehearsals have started, and we’ve seen lots of girls around the amphitheater these days practicing making sure that everything will be perfect for Saturday’s presentation. The founder of the academy Elizabeth P. de Zeller, Tia Eli, started this tradition 48 years ago and it is one that I particularly didn’t miss as a child and even now as a grown up when I bring my son along with me. This presentation is directed by Ivonne Zeller, Tia Eli’s daughter, and showcases all of the effort and passion students in the academy devote to dancing ballet, with a beautiful presentation each December in the Altos de Chavón amphitheater.
Ivonne says, “I believe at Christmastime there is always a lot of magic, and it seems every little girl’s dream is for her dolls to come to life. Each girl with a different costume will make “The Doll House” truly spectacular and be a show full of wonder children will enjoy. That is my wish!” Every student in the academy participates in this annual presentation, from the adorable toddlers to the most experienced dancers. As every year, this event will benefit the “Hogar de Ancianos Padre Abreu” (Home for the Elderly) highlighting the importance of helping our community.
Tickets will be on sale at the Altos de Chavón amphitheater box office on the day of the event and will also be sold in advance by the students with a cost of RD$300.00 p/p. Don’t miss out on one of Altos de Chavón’s Christmas traditions, whilst doing so you will also be contributing to a great cause!
