Last week, we welcomed a new month and with it, many wonderful activities such as a Tropical Cafe de la Leche, the Sugar Golf Tournament, Fundación MIR Sugar Bazaar, the Casa de Campo Spring Shootout, and many more! Today we are inviting you to another event that has quickly become a community favorite, the Altos de Chavón Outdoor Cinema!  This month, they will be screening “El hombre que cuida” by Alejandro Andújar on Thursday, April 26th.

The outdoor cinema had been a topic for some time, and it became a reality with its first film “Carpinteros” by José María Cabral.  Since then, it has shown a total of four Dominican movies. This initiative is a great way to support the Dominican Republic’s rising film industry and Chavón’s promising film career and one that the community looks forward to at the beginning of each new month.

This month’s film tells the story of Juan who has become the laughingstock of the small fishing village because his fianceé was unfaithful and got pregnant with another man’s child. Juan is no longer fishing and obsessively cares for an ostentatious mansion that belongs to a wealthy family from the capital. One day, the youngest son of the owner appears in the house, without his father’s permission and loaded with alcohol, with his foreign friend and a girl from the town that they just met. During the course of the weekend, Juan is forced to make decisions that will affect the rest of his life.

Be sure to mark your calendars for Thursday, April 26th, to watch how this story unfolds at the amphitheater outdoor cinema under the stars!
