What fans have been waiting for… DR Polo Challenge is back!

Attention Casa community! This new year brings great news! Casa de Campo Resort & Villas and Lechuzas Caracas have finally confirmed the second season of the extraordinary Polo Challenge 2017, to be held from January 14th to April 15th.

Last year’s Polo Challenge 2016 was exceptionally great, with the undefeated Lechuza closing the season winning another title: The Azimut Cup.  The season also had the participation of the best organizations and players of Polo of the world, positioning the Dominican Republic as one of the 4 destinations of high handicap Polo that includes Glass of the Queen, England; Palm Beach and Sotogrande, Spain.

POLO CHALLENGE PROGRESSO

The 2017 season brings us 4 Cups:

Bronze Cup: January 12th – 28th (12 & 22 handicap goals)
Silver Cup: February 9th – 25th  (12 & 22 handicap goals)
Gold Cup: March 4th – 26th (12 & 22 handicap goals)
Caribbean Open: March 30th – April 15th (12 & 26 handicap goals)

In addition, the Charity Polo Day will be back again with the presence of Adolfo Cambiaso, the best polo player in the world. Plus, for the first time in the country, Casa de Campo will host the first-ever exhibition of Woman’s Polo!

For community members on vacation during any of the various cups who want to catch the games, ALL the 2017 Polo Challenge finals will be broadcast live on ESPN worldwide!

Semana Santa Polo Match

The players confirmed for the Polo Challenge 2017 are: Juan Martin Nero, David Stirling, Ignacio Novillo Astrada, Frederick Mannix, the Santiago brothers and Ignacio Toccalino, and Francisco Bensadón, among others.

Milo Fernández Araujo, Manager of Lechuza Caracas, is very excited for the start of the new season, taking into account the construction of new fields, improvement of the existing ones, and is confident that this year will exceed all expectations. Fernando Arata, Polo Challenge Director, anticipates this season will be a must-see for all Dominicans, stating it will be complete with fashion, live music and “After Polo”. Both predict a very successful season in the Dominican Republic!

Friday, January 13th at 4:00 p.m., CDC Field 1: Pitirri Palenque vs. Cinque Terre

Same day and time game at Lechuza: La Patrona vs Costasur

1st Bronze cup 22 goals handicap:

Saturday, January 14th at 2:00 p.m. – CDC Field 3, Power Infraestructure vs. Alegría-El Milagro

Saturday, January 14th at 4:00 p.m. – Main event, in the central court of CDC: CDC vs. Lechuza

The national anthem will be performed by the children of the Fundación MIR to officially open the Polo Challenge 2017 season. After the game there will be a casual get together to commemorate the beginning of the season.

The Inauguration of the DR Polo Challenge 2016!

Last Thursday, January 7th, Los Establos, Ciudad Ecuestre in Cap Cana, hosted the official inauguration of the DR Polo Challenge 2016, in which more than 600 special guests gathered to witness the competitive and thrilling experience of high-goal polo with an exhibition game of teams lead by polo legends, Milo Fernández Araujo and Benjamin Araya.
