Today, Thursday May 14th, the new Casa de Campo second main entrance and adjoining road- Avenida Rey Juan Carlos I -was officially inaugurated in a private ceremony held at the Casa de Campo Hotel, one of the activities of the “XIII Congreso de Padres e Hijos” being celebrated in Casa de Campo this week.
Taking part in the ceremony was King Juan Carlos I himself, after whom the new road is named. His Majesty King Juan Carlos I, who has visited Casa de Campo before, and most recently in February of this year, is currently back in the Casa de Campo once again and is staying at Casa Grande as the guest of J.Pepe Fanjul.
The official inauguration ceremony took the form of a ribbon cutting which took place outside of the Flamboyán conference center at the heart of the Casa de Campo Hotel. Here, in front of a sign that reads “Av. Rey Juan Carlos I”, the ribbon cutting took place and was led by President of the Dominican Republic, Danilo Medina alongside His Majesty King Juan Carlos I. Also taking part was Alfy Fanjul and J.Pepe Fanjul, Ramon A. Menendez, Gustavo Cisneros, Felipe Vicini, as well as the presidencial ministers, Gustavo Montalvo and José Ramón Peralta.
The new Avenida Rey Juan Carlos I, as well as the new Casa de Campo second main entrance, connects directly onto the Autopista del Coral highway to Santo Domingo and Bavaro, as well as to the La Romana Airport, Casa de Campo. This new entrance is not yet open to the public. A “soft opening” has been planned for this month, and will allow Casa de Campo villa owners, residents and visitors with automatic passes access via this gate, all other guests must continue to use the “La Cana” entrance until the new Casa de Campo Villa Owners Club is up and running and ready to welcome new arrivals.
Meanwhile the “XIII Congreso de Padres e Hijos” opened today following the arrival of His Majesty King Juan Carlos I, who was greeted on the tarmac of the La Romana, Casa de Campo Airport by J.Pepe Fanjul, his close personal friend for more than 50 years.
In addition to the inauguration of the Avenida Rey Juan Carlos I, the participants of the “XIII Congreso de Padres e Hijos” enjoyed a speech led by King Juan Carlos I and J.Pepe Fanjul on the importance of generational transition.
“Padres e Hijos” was founded by an important group of hispanomericanos entrepreneur, including J.Pepe Fanjul, Carlos Slim and Gustavo Cisneros, among others. Also participating in the three-day event are fellow entrepreneurs Alfy Fanjul, Jose Luis Corripio and Felipe Vicini.

In addition to jetting in bright and early for the inauguration and speaking at the “Padre e Hijo” conference, His Majesty King Juan Carlos I also has time to pop into the Casa de Campo Real Estate Office at the Casa de Campo Hotel where he was greeted by Crista Ryan, president of Casa de Campo Real Estate and José Calzada Leon, senior vice-president at Casa de Campo Real Estate.
