UPDATE: Due to Hurricane Irma, the US Kids Golf Tournament has been postponed for a later date. Please stay tuned for its announcement! Nevertheless, the Jr. Golf Academy is still on schedule to continue next week so come join in on the fun!!!
While adults have plenty of chances to play golf around Casa de Campo’s world-class facilities, most recently at the Fundación MIR Golf Tournament, kids activities aren’t exactly lacking. The resort is an excellent place for kids to learn to play and it’s getting better every year. Before summer let out, the Jr. Golf Academy featured an end-of-the-year tournament and Drive, Chip, and Putt contest, and this coming Monday, on September 4th, they’ll open for their fall semester. Plus, in less than 10 days, several of these junior golfers will also be participating in the US Kids Golf tournament that will play at the La Romana Country Club on
September 10th NEW DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED.
The tournament will draw in around 30-40 girls and boys from various parts of the country, including Punta Cana, Santo Domingo, and Santiago. The US Kids tours are fun ways for young members to “meet friends and play in age-appropriate competitions” at sites around the Dominican Republic. Tee times for the different age groups begin at 8:00 a.m. and they’ll compete on the front and new nine of the LRCC, as the back will be closed for annual summer maintenance.
Dave Pfisterer, Director of Golf at the La Romana Country Club, encourages anyone interested in seeing the next generation of Dominican golfers to come out and watch these talented players compete. Registration is open at the U.S. Kids Golf Foundation for members, but anyone can come and watch! We hear a lot more cool initiatives are underway for kids wanting to take part in golf in Casa de Campo; so stick around for more news and make sure to enroll your young golfer in the Jr. Golf Academy, details below.
