The Romana-Bayahibe Hotel Association (AHRB) will dedicate the seventh edition of the La Romana Golf Tournament, which will take place on June 9 at the Links in the Casa de Campo, to Alfonso Paniagua, for his outstanding leadership in tourism development of this destination. The AHRB stressed that in his more than 40 years of service in Costasur Dominicana, where he held the position of Executive Vice President, Paniagua has been one of the most important pillars in the plans and projects of the area, since its beginning of the Casa de Campo Resort, a tourism icon in the Dominican Republic.
Andrés Fernández, president of the AHRB, highlighted Paniagua’s outstanding career at Costasur Dominicana and stated that Paniagua “will receive this recognition in a scenario that will surely be very familiar to him since he is a great golfer”. Paniagua has held the Presidency of the American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (AMCHAMRD) and the Association of Foreign Investment Companies (ASIEX); He has been a member of the Board of Directors of CONEP, the Pontificia Universidad Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) and the Dominican Association of Tourism Companies (ADETI). Alfonso Paniagua is also well known to be passionate about the polo, a sport that he enjoyed practicing at a competitive level for a long period of time. He is equally fond of golf, especially playing in any of the 5 fields he has contributed to develop in the Casa de Campo.
The tournament is already SOLD OUT but you can still join in as a spectator, watching the more than 200 golfers that will compete for this year’s prizes. The format is Couples Best Ball with a maximum handicap of 24 using 80% of each player’s handicap. Prizes will be awarded to Best Overall Gross Score, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place net for men as well as 1st and 2nd place in the ladies category. Last year the activity was a huge success, with participants from across the Dominican Republic coming together to play a friendly round of golf – and support an excellent cause.
