Young musical spirit is invading Altos de Chavón during this Festival de Primavera! This Sunday May 26th, the Dominican Winds Orchestra will for the first time perform in the main plaza of Altos de Chavon, starting at 7:30 pm.
The Dominican Wind Orchestra is a symphony band composed of 55 instrumentalists of the highest musical level, selected through a national competition, with an average age of between 12 and 25 years old. Each group lasts for 2 years, after which general auditions are held again.

The 55 young talented wind musicians of the Dominican Wind Orchestra will bring the Festival de Primavera 2013 to a spectacular close with a marvellous program of 12 pieces including “Conga del Fuego” by Arturo Márquez, “Santo Domingo” by Ñico Lora and “Leña” by Luis Alberti.
The aim of the Dominican Wind Orchestra is to be a space for the development of musical creativity achieving continuous training of its members, promoting understanding and appreciation of different musical manifestations as part of the integral formation of young musicians.
The Festival de Primavera, which started last night has been organised by Casa de Campo with the Dominican Ministry of Culture, the festivities continue all weekend, with the the National Symphonic Orchestra conducted by the great José Antonio Molina TONIGHT (Friday) as well as the ENDANZA dance performance TOMORROW (Saturday) – both at the Altos de Chavón amphitheater.
As with all activities of the Festival de Primavera, the Dominican Wind Orchestra concert is completely free – complimentary tickets are available at the Casa de Campo Villa Owners Club.
