On Saturday June 9th 2012, “Teeth of the Dog”, a 3 year old thoroughbred racehorse co-owned by Casa de Campo villa owners Carlos Morales Troncoso and Jose Singer won the Easy Goer Stakes in Belmont Park (Elmont, New York) by 3 ¾-lengths! It certainly looks like the horse “Teeth of the Dog” is living up to it’s golf namesake, which the #1 golf course in the Caribbean and one of the top 50 golf courses in the world!
Since his racing debut in December 2011 “Teeth of the Dog” has finished in the top 3 in 5 out of 6 of his races, coming in 5th at the Preakness Stakes on Saturday May 19th in Baltimore, 3rd at the Wood Memorial Race on April 7th and now 1st in the Easy Goer Stakes in Belmont Park.

Teeth of the Dog is part-owned by the Dominican Minister of foreign affairs and Casa de Campo villa owner, Carlos Morales Troncoso, who is also a big horse racing enthusiast – having owned over 250 race horses, including a filly called “Marina de Chavon” (yet another name seemingly inspired by Casa de Campo), who like “Teeth of the Dog” was co-owned with Mr. Jose Singer and who won over US$200,000 in US races!
The Teeth of the Dog – golf course
The “Teeth of the Dog” horse was named by co-owner Jose Singer, a Casa de Campo villa owner whose beautiful villa overlooks the 15th hole of Casa de Campo’s most famous golf course – the Teeth of the Dog.
Designed and inaugurated by Pete Dye in 1971, the Teeth of the Dog golf course was opened before the Casa de Campo resort itself!
With 7 holes skirting the Caribbean ocean, the Teeth of the Dog is consistently ranked [by Golf Magazine] as the #1 golf course in the Caribbean and one of the top 50 golf courses in the world. Cited by Pete Dye as one of his best accomplishments in his 50 year career, the Teeth of the Dog par is 72 and measures 7471 yards from the back tees.
