In preparation for the arrival of Tropical Storm Emily last week, the Dominican Republic prepared in many ways – by evacuating ‘at risk’ areas and converting the ‘Palacio Nacional’ into a refugee center, for example……oh and they also tied down King Kong!

Emily gets downgraded to a Tropical Depression!
It turns out Tropical Storm Emily was no match for the Dominican Republic! Less than 24 hours after Tropical Storm Emily came into contact with our beloved island of Hispaniola she has been downgraded from a Tropical Storm to a Tropical Depression – the Dominican Republic’s mountainous regions broke up her ‘organisation.’

Where is Tropical Storm Emily? Having sent our employees home and closed the office early, I must say I’m a little bit miffed that thus far the weather in Casa de Campo La Romana really hasn’t been that bad – and certainly not bad enough to warrant a half day off work!
