MIR Sugar Bazaar 2019

This post is also available in: Spanish

The annual “MIR Sugar Bazaar”, held as part of the Sugar Golf Tournament will this year be open at the La Romana Country Club in Casa de Campo from April 4th through to April 7th, with the popular “ladies luncheon” taking place on Saturday, April 6th.

The “MIR Sugar Bazaar” is held every year in aid of the Fundación MIR, non-profit organization and is a wonderful opportunity for Casa de Campo ladies to do a little shopping whilst also supporting a great cause! Although the bazaar is open for 3 days (from April 4th to April 7th), the most popular day to visit is on the afternoon of the “ladies luncheon” and fashion show, which is something all Casa ladies look forward too.

The MIR Bazaar will be offering Casa de Campo shoppers a superb range of products – such as jewelry, arts and crafts, home decor items, clothing, and much more! So lady shoppers of Casa de Campo – pencil the date into your diary! And if you or someone you know may be interested in taking part with a table in the event please contact the Fundación MIR now to reserve your space (contacts below).

The MIR Bazaar and the Ladies Luncheon are an important part of the Sugar Golf tournament, not just because they keep the ladies entertained, but also because a percentage of all sales made during the bazaar are donated to the Fundacion MIR – Help bring a bright future to the children of La Romana by supporting Fundación MIR’s Sugar Bazaar. We hope to see you all there!

MIR Sugar Bazaar 2019

About the Sugar Golf Tournament…

The Sugar Golf Tournament is the Fundación MIR’s original fundraising event, from which Lian Fanjul de Azqueta, Founder and President of the charity got the seed money to open the “Casa de Paz”, which has now become the internationally recognized foundation, today called the “Fundación MIR.”

Originally just a “normal” golf tournament, “The Sugar” was founded in 1984 by Alfy Fanjul and Don Creamer (pictured left), but when Alfy  (Lian’s brother) won in 1990 he donated his winnings to Lian, thus transforming the Sugar golf tournament into a charity event for the Fundación MIR, and as such one of the most glamorous, exclusive and important events in the Casa de Campo social calendar.

Today, “The Sugar” now incorporates a golf component headed by Alfy, as well as a shooting componant headed by one of Lian’s other brother’s Pepe, played in Casa de Campo at the the Casa de Campo Shooting Center and “Rancho Peligro” (click here for photos and to read more.)
