Get ready to mark your calendars because the beloved tradition of “Friendsgiving” is back for its sixth edition on Thursday, November 16, 2023. While not an official holiday in the Dominican Republic, it’s a cherished occasion for Casa de Campo residents, providing a fantastic opportunity to gather with loved ones, express gratitude for life’s blessings, and indulge in a delectable feast.
At the heart of this annual gathering lies the “Best Turkey Competition,” a Thanksgiving showdown that has become the signature event of “Friendsgiving.” It not only tests culinary skills but also supports one of Casa de Campo’s most cherished causes, the Hogar del Niño.
On the evening of November 16, fifteen Casa de Campo residents, each wearing chef’s hats and aprons, will take on a culinary challenge: Who can roast the most exceptional turkey? Armed with an 18 lb bird as their canvas, these culinary enthusiasts are determined to showcase their kitchen prowess. Ultimately, a panel of discerning judges will render their verdict, but the audience is in for a delightful treat as they savor the results and witness the spirited competition firsthand.
In the previous edition of the “Friendsgiving” Best Turkey Competition, Patricia Proaño emerged as the champion. The evaluation criteria revolve around the turkey’s essential qualities: the meat’s moistness, the skin’s crispness, and the overall presentation. As excitement builds for the upcoming event, the burning question is: Who will earn the coveted title of this year’s champion?
As Casa de Campo residents prepare to come together for this culinary extravaganza, “Friendsgiving” continues to exemplify the unity and camaraderie that define this vibrant community.
Make sure to mark your calendars for November 16, 2023, and join in celebrating friendship, gratitude, and culinary excellence.
