Café de la Leche monthly gatherings have become a great way to start the weekend early! The event took place on Thursday, September 6th at Amelia Pereyra’s Casa de Campo golf villa and had the attendance of many ladies and gentlemen there to celebrate the Café de la Leche’s 17th birthday.
In a friendly, outdoor setting on the patio of Amelia’s home, the ladies spent the afternoon chatting and discussing fall plans, while intermittently snacking on some very delicious hors d’oeuvres and sipped on sangrias on the warm evening. The terrace was lit with patio lights and decorated from the treetops that made for many picturesque photos. In honor of their 17th anniversary, the ladies got together and sang happy birthday as a way of welcoming the new year of wonderful events all in name of a beautiful cause. This Café de la Leche edition also featured a talk encouraging the ladies on adopting a more sustainable lifestyle by reducing plastic waste.
Through the contributions of Café de la Leche, PBO is able to supply the Crib Room at the Hogar del Niño with more than 60% of the milk used to nourish more than 200 babies daily. In total, that’s 800 bottles per day! The success of the Crib Room continues to rise since it first opened its doors. Less than two years ago the Hogar del Niño replaced the cribs for corrals creating open formats ideal for the babies to crawl around, play together and with toys, easily interact and nap side by side. With the supervision of many nurses and caretakers, the babies are healthy and happy. PBO also continues to break their fundraising record through their “Adopt a Crib” program, the sum of which was put towards many superior initiatives at the schools, including changes in the Crib Room, a sports pavilion, Montessori classrooms, and extra-curricular activities.
Once again, congratulations on 17 years, Café de la Leche! Now seventeen years later, the events continue to go strong with supporters, themed celebrations, and love for the children. We look forward to the community’s continued support for such a great organization and cause!
