Earlier this month on August 4th, Marc Anthony and his non-profit foundation Maestro Cares inaugurated the orphanage Hogar San Miguel in Ponce Puerto Rico. The home which officially opened back in February is located next to San Lucas Hospital and includes 10 bedrooms for 20 children between the ages of 8 and 17 years old, a recreational area, study area with computers, administrative area, reception, individual offices for social workers, psychological and therapeutic practices, a nursery, and laundry unit.
The construction of this new home was announced back in 2015 after Marc Anthony visited the old facilities, and was recently completed, providing a safe home and environment for children in need who have been removed from their homes due to physical and emotional harm or have been victims of sexual abuse. Henry Cardenas, co-founder of the Maestro Cares Foundation, thanked everybody for supporting the foundation and excused Marc Anthony for not being present at the inauguration due to the recent passing of his mother.
The Maestro Cares Foundation has built orphanages in La Romana (Dominican Republic), Barranquilla (Colombia), Toluca (Mexico) and has MABA education programs in Lima (Peru) and is currently builds homes in Guadalajara (Mexico), San Juan Sacatepéquez (Guatemala) and two in La Paz (Bolivia).
It is wonderful to see that in such a short period of time, Maestro Cares, founded in 2012, has helped so many children across the world and are planning to continue doing so. We are witness to all they do for the Niños de Cristo Orphanage, bringing hope and happiness to all of them. Just a few days ago and thanks to donations, the boys received shoes to wear to school, and a little over one year ago after Marc Anthony’s Live! concert tour in Altos de Chavón, the foundation hosted a fundraising dinner for the Niños de Cristo orphanage at SBG in Casa de Campo.
The Maestro Cares Foundation (MCF) was founded by international pop superstar Marc Anthony and entrepreneur Henry Cárdenas in January 2012 as a non-profit organization established to benefit homeless and neglected children in developing Latin American countries. Maestro Cares seeks to offer assistance to these children while supporting social services and other development programs. Soon after it was founded, the Orfanato Niños de Cristo in La Romana was chosen as the first beneficiary of the cause.
“Maestro Cares improves the quality of life for orphaned children throughout Latin America. We work to achieve our mission by providing housing, classrooms, health clinics, dining and recreational facilities.” — Marc Anthony
