Fundacion MIR

Today, September 5th is the International Day of Charity, and here in Casa de Campo Living, as part of a community that loves to give, we wanted to express our most sincere wishes to the charities throughout Dominican Republic and the world, especially to those based in the greater La Romana area.

In recognition of the role of charity in alleviating humanitarian crises and human ‎suffering within and among nations, as well as of the efforts of charitable organizations ‎and individuals, including the work of Mother Teresa, the General Assembly of the ‎United Nations in its resolution A/RES/67/105 designated the 5th of September, the ‎anniversary of the death of Mother Teresa, as the International Day of Charity.‎

Hogar del Nino

Every human being has within itself, a kind spirit which searches for ways to help the most needy, and here in Casa de Campo we put this wonderful gesture into practice throughout the year, and the feeling of satisfaction it brings, is always present in our minds and hearts.

The passion of the Casa de Campo community to support and give to those less fortunate than ourselves is renowned – and the sheer number of charitable activities and events celebrated year round is testament to that. To name just a few charities supported, and in the majority founded by members of the Casa de Campo community, we have: the Fundación MIR, the Hogar del Niño, the Orfanato Niños de Cristo, the Buen Samaritano Hospital and the Clinica de Familia in La Romana, as well as the Altos de Chavón Foundation here in Casa de Campo!

Good deeds!

Recently, the Fundación MIR, which has 3 schools in La Romana and more than 1,500 students, raised more than US$100,000 in the MIR Annual Family Weekend, where the Casa de Campo community joined forces to support this good cause, enjoying among family and friends the MIR Golf Tournament, the MIR Tennis Tournament, as well as a dinner-dance party for all participants. Meanwhile, the Hogar del Niño in La Romana, the most comprehensive  daycare and educational center in the Dominican Republic, held in February the annual gala dinner Adopt a Crib, where was raised the grand sum of US$ 1,119,000, thanks to the generous donations of Casa de Campo community! It’s amazing to see how a group of people come together to provide a better future for those who simply do not have the resources to make it happen.

On this day we encourage people to continue supporting these good causes, those that bring happiness and hope to other human beings like us!

Happy International Charity Day!
