The spirit, culture and music of France is arriving to Casa de Campo and Altos de Chavón next week during the first annual “Semana de Francia”, to be celebrated between the 22nd and the 25th of March, with one of the many highlights of the event being the “Gran Gala de la Canción Francesa” concert taking place at the Altos de Chavón amphitheater!
This grand gala celebration will include of a variety of musical and dance performances; the “Grand Orchestre de Rene Coll”, the Dominican-French jazz singer Cyrille-Aimee, as well as Can-Can dancers all intertwined to create a French musical extravaganza! Oh la la!

The Gran Orchestre de Rene Coll
The Big Band of the late Rene Coll includes 5 singers, a drummer, a percussionist, a bass player, a pianist, 3 violinists, a cellist, 4 Saxophonists, 4 trumpeters and 4 trombonists, as well as a conductor who leads this magnificent orchestra in the creation of a variety of different musical symphonies; jazz, salsa, rhythm & blues, funk, soul and even reggae.

Cyrille Aimee
A talented young French-Dominican jazz singer, whose natural and simple style is influenced both by Caribbean rhythms and classic European swing.

French Can-Can!
A historically French dance, traditionally performed by female dancers who wear costumes with long skirts, petticoats, and black stockings. The main features of the dance are the lifting up and manipulation of the skirts, with high kicking and suggestive, provocative body movements.

The “Gran Gala de la Canción Francesa” is being produced and directed by Dominican artist Chiqui Haddad, the genius responsible for the KANDELA! Dominican music and dance extravaganza performed every Monday evening at 6pm in the Altos de Chavón amphitheater (click here for more info).

The “Semana de Francia”, 4 day event will incorporate a multitude of business, technological, cultural and gastronomic activities all over Casa de Campo with the exceptional spot of Altos de Chavón transformed into a typical “village Francaise”, with gastronomic, artistic and technological fair open every day from 10am – 10pm animated with street performers and a lively program of musical and theatrical events!
