For six consecutive years, Fundación MIR has been bringing big smiles and clean teeth to the children of La Romana with Dental Week at la Escuela Campo Nueva Esperanza with Dr. James Hudson.
Dr. James Hudson, the personal dentist of Pepe Fanjul, along with eight volunteer dentists from Columbia University in New York recently came to offer dental services to the pupils of the Fundación MIR schools in La Romana. It was in 2009 that Dr. Hudson first visited, having been invited by his patient, Pepe Fanjul; he has since become a long time supporter of the cause.
This dental initiative not only relies on the expertise of a team of trained professionals, but also a wide range of equipment and modern facilities, which were previously arranged in a mobile unit. This time, it’s very different for an exciting reason — Fundación MIR has opened a Dental Clinic! With this clinic, a new program has started for students, their families, and employees of foundation MIR! Now, children can receive dental care year-round. During this pre-opening of the Dental Clinic, over 450 students were treated for extractions, fillings, root canals and dental surgeries!
The Dental clinic is made possible by Rotary Club of West Palm Beach whose financial assistance has contributed to providing those in the La Romana area with needed treatment and care. We are so proud and impressed by the great work of Fundacíon MIR with their new facility and program!
To support Fundacíon MIR and all their continued initiatives, see the contact details below, and plan on coming to this year’s MIR Family Weekend which takes place August 13th!!
It seems like yesterday that we were celebrating the 2015 Family Weekend for Life with a fabulous golf tournament, tennis tournament and gala! Well time sure flies by, because we are already getting our golf clubs, racquets and party outfits ready for the 2016 Family Weekend which has been announced to take place on August 13 and 14, 2016!
The Fundación MIR is a non-profit organization which works to provide education to the children of the greater La Romana area, who are most in need. They run 3 schools; the MIR Esperanza (boys vocational school), the Escuela Técnica Vocacional Fundación MIR (girls vocational school) and the Primaria MIR (infants school).
