On Saturday, August 12th, La Romana Country Club hosted over 100 participants for the 2023 Fundación MIR Family Weekend for Life golf tournament. This spirited competition is part of the Family Day extravaganza, a multi-faceted event encompassing not only golf but also a tennis tournament, a tennis clinic for youngsters, and an elegant dinner gala at the Minitas Beach Club.
Upon arrival, the players were greeted by the staff of the Fundación MIR where they were handed a goody bag and this year’s event polo shirt.
The Casa de Campo golf department expertly managed the tournament in a scramble format. It included additional prizes for the longest drive and closest to the pin.
Lian Fanjul de Azqueta, President and Founder of the Fundación MIR, was present to kick off the tournament officially and personally welcome and thank all participants.
Navigating the lush expanse of the course, golfers were treated to an assortment of delectable refreshments generously sponsored by the Fundación MIR’s dedicated corporate backers.
A unanimous sentiment resonated when we inquired about the participants’ experiences throughout the day: It had been undeniably FUN! The exhilarating atmosphere on the course was amplified by the knowledge that this enjoyable endeavor was, in fact, a noble endeavor — rallying resources for Fundación MIR’s triumvirate of schools, which provide unwavering support to the children of La Romana.
