On Wednesday the 12th of December 2012, during a glittering black tie event for the Grand Final Gala Ceremony of the World Travel Awards in the enticing location of New Delhi, India, our beloved Casa de Campo resort was crowned the “World’s Leading Golf Resort” for the 6th consecutive year!
From fairways to trophies! Earlier this year, Casa de Campo swung to victory at the Regional World Travel Awards for the Caribbean and the Americas with three very deserving accolades: “Caribbean’s Leading Golf Resort”- for the 7th time, “Dominican Republic’s Leading Golf Resort” – for the 9th consecutive year, as well as the “Dominican Republic’s Leading Hotel” – for the 4th time and now Casa de Campo has accepted once again the great honor of “World’s Leading Golf Resort” for the 6th consecutive year at the World Travel Awards – the “Oscars of the Travel Industry”.
Hosted at The Oberoi, Gurgaon, in New Delhi where the most important decision-makers in the travel industry gathered for the VIP ceremony, the World Travel Awards recognised the achievements of the very best resorts across the world. It was here, amongst some of the biggest names in the travel industry (Jumeirah, Starwood Hotels, Lufthansa, Korean Air, Royal Caribbean International and Kuoni) that Casa de Campo received the trophy for “World’s Leading Golf Resort”, received by his Excellency, the Dominican Ambassador to India, Mr. Hans Dannenberg on behalf of the resort.
Hole #8, Teeth of the Dog, Casa de Campo
Currently thought of by many as the “Country Club of the Caribbean” with its 7,500 acres of lush green land, world class golfing facilities, 90-Pete Dye designed holes and the state of the art #1 golf course in the Caribbean“Teeth of the Dog” there is no doubt why Casa de Campo was named once again named the “World’s Leading Golf Resort” and a reason why golfers all over the world keep challenging themselves on the greens!
To describe a golfers intimate feeling with Casa de Campo, a recently appeared quote on the Casa de Campo Resort website by James Frank, Robb Report contributor states-“Casa de Campo is like grown-up Disneyland. Everything you’d want is right there. You never have to leave and you never want to leave. The golf is as good as it gets anywhere, and the rooms, food, and other activities are all great, too. For a golfer, this is the Magic Kingdom!”
Casa de Campo Golf
Casa de Campo’s first golf course, Pete Dye’s masterpiece, the Teeth of the Dog, was opened more than 40 years ago in 1971 thus beginning the transformation of Casa de Campo from a rural seaside retreat into a world-class golf destination, otherwise known as the “World’s Leading Golf Resort.”
