UPDATE: The Fresh Fresh Café Talk with Herbalist Alita Akashi tonight in Santo Domingo has been suspended.
We love live music and if it’s outdoors and at Altos de Chavón even more! Fresh Fresh Chavón is hosting a FREE live music event this Friday featuring Van Avakian. For those of you who like Jazz and Reggae, Van Avakian is your guy and we hope to see many of you out on the cobbles on Friday.
Van Avakian by photographer Ivan Herrera.
The drummer, vocalist, and composer of various forms of music ranging anywhere from Reggae to Jazz was born in Montreal, and has lived for quite some time in the Dominican Republic. He has traveled playing professionally with his own band and opened for local and international musicians, like Groundation at the Dominican Republic World Music Festival 2012, and at the Montreal International Reggae Festival. Back from Greece, the artist says he is “focused on my music and making sure that I spread my message and the power of One Love throughout communities.”
Check out his single “The Music” in this really cool video shot here in the Dominican Republic:
If you are not able to catch him on Friday at Fresh Fresh Chavón, head over to the newly opened Fresh Fresh Santo Domingo which will be hosting him tomorrow evening right after a talk by herbalist Alita Akashi who visited us at Chavón recently. Fresh Fresh Santo Domingo is definitely becoming a new hot spot in the city although we must say that nothing beats the vibe and setting of Altos de Chavón!
We look forward to more of Fresh Fresh Café’s exciting series of events! See the details below.
