This Thursday the 22nd of March, Altos de Chavón will at 10am be magically transformed into a “petit village français” with a gastronomic, artistic and technological fair, street performers, an Autoferia (car show) – and 3 art exhibits, including one by local Casa de Campo resident and French artists, Jean Pierre Frey!
You will find the exhibit of Jean Pierre Frey in the tent (or casita) in between the St Stanislaus church and Papa Jacks – they are looking forward to your visit!
Art and furniture by Jean Pierre Frey
Jean Pierre’s unique and gorgeous art-furniture is made from the remains of old traditional Dominican houses – the ones painted in all the colors of the rainbow (pink, blue, green….) – hence the furniture’s unique mix of eclectic colors. Each piece is hand-made in his workshop in La Romana, where he transforms useless pieces of old wood into functional pieces of furniture, that not only look great, but can serve as the focal point of any room – just like any other work of art.
Rio Salado by Jean Pierre Frey
As well as furniture Jean Pierre also has a number of Dominican-inspired paintings, that perfectly reflect the Dominican culture and lifestyle with all it’s vibrancy and color! And just recently from salvaging the old wooden Casa de Campo signs, Jean Pierre has created a new line of art pieces.
