ballet folklore altos de chavonWhat a culturely colorful show! The “Folklore a los cuatro vientos” performed at the Altos de Chavón amphitheater last Saturday the 17th of December was a singing, dancing, whirlwind tour of the Caribbean’s wonderful and varied cultures.   Brought to Altos de Chavón and Casa de Campo by the Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Culture as part of the Altos de Chavón amphitheater’s 30th anniversary celebrations, the “Folklore a los cuatro vientos”, performed by the Dominican National Folkloric Ballet group and directed by Josefina Miniño, involved more than 150 dancers as well as famous Dominican folkloric singers Ileana Reynoso and Fausto Guillén.

From start to finish the show, led the audience on a cultural dancing tour of the nations of the Caribbean, with dancing, singing and even short dramatical performances charcateristic of the various nations such as Cuba, Haiti and of course the Dominican Republic.

At the end of a thrilling show, the show’s director Josefina Miniño was presented with flowers by here son Maestro Jose Antonio Molina and greeted by rapturous applause from the Casa de Campo audience.

After the show, the more than 1,000 members of the audience; members of the Casa de Campo and La Romana community as well as visitors, made their merry way to the main Altos de Chavón area, to enjoy the Bazaar Navideño as well as after-show dinner and drinks at Altos de Chavón’s restaurants, such as Gino in Trastevere.

Particularly popular was our “Christmas golf cart”, which we had especially created for the 1st annual golf cart parade and which was enjoyed by many who climbed aboard and posed by photos! Click here for photos of the golf cart parade!
