On this occasion Fernando Varela invites you to celebrate the opening with a cocktail reception at the gallery, when you will have the opportunity to admire his most recent works; drawings and sculptures of the series “ESCULTURAS Y DIBUJOS”.

Fernando Varela is considered to be one of the Dominican Republic’s most internationally successful artists. Famous for his contemporary paintings, the artworks of Fernando Varela form part of important art collections both nationally and internationally, and are especially popular among Casa de Campo villa owners.

In recent times we have enjoyed a number of different exhibitions by Fernando Varela in the Marina Casa de Campo, most recently in December 2014, Fernando Varela celebrated the opening of his gallery “Colectiv@ 5”, a collaboration of 5 photographic artists of the Casa de Campo community; America Olivo, Lowell Whipple, Mary Rosa Jiménez, Thedy Clara Martínez and Ángel Ricardo Rivera, who teamed up to present a quiet remarkable collection, without a doubt the best photography exhibit ever seen at the Marina Casa de Campo. “Working on a  sculpture is very different from a painting or a drawing. You work with different materials, and the end product actually relies on the work of other people.

It is a process that transports you to a different level of creation, one in which the creation is determined by everything that the artist conceives.

By using different mediums such as drawing, collage, painting and sculpture I am able to express the same feeling of Forma y Vacio, while also offering a diversity which allows for better comprehension of what the artist is looking to portray.”
