A Creative Gateway for All

Founded in 1983 as part of the Altos de Chavón Cultural Center Foundation, CHAVÓN has become a cornerstone of art and design education in the Dominican Republic. In partnership with Parsons School of Design, the school has spent more than four decades shaping industry professionals who now lead creative fields locally and internationally.

Through its continuing education courses, CHAVÓN continues to open doors for students of all backgrounds to learn, experiment and grow. The upcoming workshops in La Romana are designed to help participants expand their artistic skills while immersing themselves in the vibrant beauty of Altos de Chavón.

Courses Designed to Inspire

The Basic Introduction to Interior Design course (starting Oct. 20), guided by designer Xavier Roselló, explores the five pillars of interior design: materials, light, color, furniture and presentation. Over five weeks, participants learn how to transform a space from concept to reality, understanding how every element shapes atmosphere and function.

Also led by Roselló, Aprende Urban Sketch (starting Oct. 24) teaches students to capture the essence of Altos de Chavón through freehand drawing. The four-week program combines outdoor practice with guided observation exercises, encouraging participants to develop their personal sketching style while exploring perspective, proportion, light and texture.

For those drawn to color theory, Color in Spaces (starting Oct. 21), taught by designer Laura Arellano, focuses on the emotional and psychological impact of color in interior design. In five weeks, students will learn to build balanced color palettes, combine tones and materials, and create harmonious environments that reflect identity and mood.
