We are sure you already know that there is a mixology and cocktail bar in La Marina… Wait you didn’t know? Well, you are missing out! La Marina has many great restaurants and an amazing view but it was missing a bar where you could just go with friends or alone and enjoy a great drink after a long day of work, this is the reason why Marc Tiernay and José Calzada got together and opened Barlovento 8.
So what is mixology? The terms “mixology” and “mixologist” have become a regular part of bar vocabulary. They are being used more and more to describe a style of mixing cocktails and the people who practice it. So a mixologist creates innovative cocktails, often using unique, house made or historical (and now uncommon) ingredients and combining those to create unusual tastes in drinks. Barlovento 8 is exactly this – a bar with a menu consisting of 20 amazing signature cocktails as well as classics, offering the highest level of mixology at Casa De Campo.
When you visit them make sure to try these: The “Beetroot Sapphire” made with Bombay Sapphire, Lemon, Beet Syrup and Rosemary; the “White Monkey” made with Grey Goose, Sweet Potato Syrup & Lemon; the “Spicy Lychee” made with Bombay Sapphire, Lychee, Lemon, Liquid Sugar & Black Pepper; the “Spicy Corn” made with Tequila Cazadores Reposado, Sweet Corn Syrup, Lemon, Sriracha, Roasted Corn & Peperoncino. The Barlovento 8 cocktail menu is varied and we are sure you will love all of them! Want to know whats even better? They have Premium Hours, the first “after work” of the community. Everyone who visits them from 6pm to 9pm will be able to enjoy 2×1 in their cocktail menu. Also, 2×1 in Gray Goose Vodka, Bombay Sapphire Geneva, Dewars Whiskey 12 and Oakheart Spiced Rum Rum.
Back in June during the Café de la Leche we met Mexican mixologist Humberto Cantú. Humberto is the author of all the signature cocktails listed in the menu, and he’s also the brand ambassador for the Dominican Republic of world-renowned brands such as Gray Goose, Dewars, Bombay Sapphire, Martini, St. Germain and other brands of the outstanding portfolio of Bacardi. Talk about experience!
