Save the date! As part of the Festival de Primavera being celebrated next week from the 23rd to the 26th of May in Altos de Chavón, the Dominican National Symphonic Orchestra will be performing at the amphitheater on Friday evening the 24th of May!
The Festival de Primavera being organised by Casa de Campo with the Dominican Ministry of Culture, promises to be a magical celebration of Dominican art, music and culture and is sponsored by Central Romana Corporation, Costasur and Silgon Inc. with Casa de Campo Living. The performance of the Dominican National Symphonic Orchestra will be directed by Maestro José Antonio Molina, the first Dominican to have been named chief conductor of an orchestra in the United States; the Greater Palm Beach Symphony. Molina’s other accolades include being director and and principal arranger for the Pavarotti and Friends concerts and he has directed the Spanish director José Carreras in a gala concert in this country, as well as a concert with Gloria Estefan at the Vatican.
On this occasion, Maestro José Antonio Molina will lead the National Symphonic Orchestra through a program starting with one of his own compositions; Overture “YAYA”, to be followed by Gershwins “Catfish Row” (originally called “Suite from Porgy and Bess”), “Selecciones de las Estaciones” by Antonio Vivaldi, ending with another of José Antonio Molina own works; “Fantasia Merengue”.
As with all activities of the Festival de Primavera, the concert with the Dominican National Symphonic Orchestra is completely free – complimentary tickets will be available at the Casa de Campo Villa Owners Club and the Altos de Chavón amphitheater office.
