On July 12th, Mrs. Mina Halpern Lozada, Executive Director of the Clínica de Familia La Romana, and Dr. Rafaela Carrasco, Vice Chancellor of Academics at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) signed an agreement with the aim of developing a program of clinical rotations in the Clínica de Familia for the universities Internship program in Social and Community Medicine for students of PUCMM.
Thanks to this agreement, PUCMM students will do rotations in the Clínica de Familia, where they are able to work in this organization during their consultations and perform community work. They will also be conducting research and projects to improve the services offered at the clinic for those in need. This agreement seeks to provide further knowledge and experience about social and community medicine. The first group of PUCMM medical student to rotate in the Clínica de Familia started on July 25th.
The Clínica de Familia La Romana has an ongoing program for student rotations and volunteering since 2002. During this time, they have received hundreds of students from international and local Dominican medical universities, as well as public health and nursing. These rotations have assisted students in their professional development. All research and projects undertaken are very important for the Clínica de Familia since it helps improve their services providing for those who need them most.
