Well friends you’re reading the third post of Claudio’s Tips for Casa Gents, which means this Casa de Campo Living column has become a reality…and is going strong. Today we will answer a very common question about two very crucial parts in men’s wear: shoes and ties. Should I wear a tie with my suede shoes?

I should say that I have seen many Casa Gents rocking casual suede shoe… and they certainly look awesome. However, as Claudio, our gentlemens’ fashion mentor reminds us, we must follow the established and basic rule of fashion that tells us that there should be consistency between the elements of our outfit, i.e., it is not a good idea to combine very formal pieces with casual ones.

Claudio advices that we must therefore avoid wearing a tie with casual suede shoes, “you should avoid using these kind of shoes when wearing a tie. Perhaps on think these two elements combine perfectly, or that they looks nice because the colours match… but my advice is to NEVER, NEVER EVER wear these two pieces in the same outfit.

A tie is a formal piece for a more formal occasion. (Don’t forget to read our tutorial on how to correctly tie a classic knot on your ties!) Casual suede shoes should not be worn with a tie, so make sure to find a colorful belt to wear with those cool shoes, and let’s leave the tie for a more formal gathering.”
