Every year, the Billfish Report announces its Top 10 Billfisheries of the Year, taking into account fish numbers, variety of billfish species, reports, average fish sizes, length of the season and number of boats out fishing. According to the Billfish Report, “with over 9,000 Billfish Reports submitted to us in 2017 from around the World, to even be considered for our Top 10 makes a fishery one of the best!”  This year, Casa de Campo was ranked the #6 Billfishery in the Top 10, beating our score last year by four!

Boats fishing out of La Marina Casa de Campo have recorded reports of 5+ Blue Marlin in a day placing Casa de Campo 2nd in the Atlantic and 3rd in the world for 2017.  While most of these Blue Marlin are small, there were reports of boats releasing four Blue Marlin over 500 pounds!  What the fishery may lack in size, it makes up for in numbers. On top of Blue Marlin, there is a large Sailfish population diversifying the fishery and setting new records! This past year, a Marina record was set with reports of 29-45 Sailfish bitings! Adding to the variety of fish, the Marina record on Swordfish was caught here in 2017!

Congratulations to La Romana and Marina Casa de Campo on ranking #6 Top Billfishery of 2017!

This year’s fishing season will be open from February to June, with the 2nd Marina Casa de Campo Open taking place March 8th-10th! Stay tuned for more details soon!
