Welcome_Party_Blue_MarlinOn Monday March 16th, the Casa de Campo Yacht Club in the Marina Casa de Campo hosted a welcome party for all the participants of the Casa de Campo Blue Marlin Classic celebrated from the 17th to 22nd of March.

Welcome_Party_Blue_Marlin_3The motivation behind the event was to give the owners and crew of the 17 international fishing vessels a formal (and fun) welcome to the Marina Casa de Campo and the Dominican Republic. In addition to receiving their souvenirs for the tournament, all the fisherman, danced, toasted to their good health and the tournament to come and just generally had a good time- if there’s one thing fisherman know how to do -it’s have a good time!

And despite the festivities, bright and early the very next day, the Casa de Campo Blue Marlin Classic got started as the 17 international fishing vessels sailed out of the Marina Casa de Campo in search of Blue Marlin. Over the subsequent 3 days a very respectable 40 blue marlin were released and the tournament came to a close with the 62’ Spencer Shoe announced the winners at a celebration held at La Casita restaurant on the Paseo del Mar of the Marina Casa de Campo (click here for photos).
