cafe de la leche tracaderoThis month’s Café de la Leche charitable celebration took the ladies of Casa de Campo on a “road trip” to the Tracadero Beach Club in Dominicus – and taking place just 1 day after the opening of the new “Autopista del Coral” La Romana – Punta Cana highway, we all arrived super fast (in less than 20 minutes), leaving us plenty of time for fun and cocktails!

What a view! Beautiful Casa de Campo ladies at Tracadero Beach Club! cafe de la leche tracadero

For me, the adventure began as soon as we left Casa de Campo – because it was my first journey on the new “Autopista del Coral” highway between La Romana and Punta Cana, and although it is essentially just a road, it is a very good road and it was wonderful to arrive so quickly and without a fear of potholes! [Click here to read more about this amazing new road.] cafe de la leche tracadero Arriving at Tracadero, one of my favorite places outside of Casa de Campo, was as always, a real pleasure – it’s so modern, clean, chic and altogether beautiful that it’s the kind of place where you can really relax and enjoy, which is exactly what I (and everyone else) did! Overlooking the beautiful Caribbean sea, we enjoyed a delicious rum punch cocktails and a seemingly endless supply of picadera, including supli and mini-pizzas created especially for the occasion by Tracadero’s talented Italian Chef Paolo.
cafe de la leche tracadero “The event was a great success – we gathered a lot of milk for the Crib Room at the Hogar del Niño which is the most important thing. And from the comments of everyone who attended – it was clear everyone had a great time. Hosting the Café de la Leche outside of Casa de Campo was a “test” and I think everyone was pleased with how it turned out. We would certainly love to host another event in the future, but in the meantime we hope to see everyone from Casa de Campo back here very soon.” — Marcella Terrone, Tracadero Beach Resort (pictured far right)
A surprise and very beautiful edition to this month’s Café de la Leche event was the presence of the 10 semi-finalists of the “Señoritas Romana” reality TV beauty pageant, a production by local La Romana personality, Hilda Peguero, aired on her weekly show “El Poder del Bien con Hilda Peguero” on channel #42 (Romana TV) on Saturdays at 9pm. Having visited the Hogar del Niño daycare and educational center in La Romana, the girls attended the Café de la Leche to further support the efforts of the Hogar del Niño – by bringing donations of milk, toys and even a breastfeeding equipement kit.
“Looking after and helping the babies at the Hogar del Niño was a very moving experience for the girls. With this gesture we hope to promote social responsibility amongst youngsters in our community, familiarizing them with the opportunity to do “good deeds” and get to know local charities such as the Patronato Benefico Oriental (umbrella charity for the Hogard del Niño).”

ABOUT the Cafe de la Leche

cafe de la leche chavon river

The Cafe de la Leche is a monthly charitable event, a little like a coffee or a tea party held for the ladies of Casa de Campo (although men are occasionally invited) and usually takes place on the first Friday of the month, hosted by a member of the Casa de Campo villa at her Casa de Campo villa or occasionally restaurant/business.

The aim of the Café de la Leche gatherings are to boost the milk supplies of the Hogar del Niño (a daycare and educational facility in La Romana) – which uses the milk to feed more than 200 babies cared for daily in it’s crib room. Everyone is welcome to attend these great events and it’s totally free – you are just requested to bring some dried/powdered milk, cereals or baby formula to contribute.
