The Hogar del Niño has just announced that the next Café de la Leche will be celebrated at La Cantina in Altos de Chavón on Friday September the 6th!
While many Café de la Leche celebrations are hosted by generous Casa de Campo villa owners in their homes, on this occasion we can look forward to enjoying an afternoon on the cobbles of Altos de Chavón with the gorgeous view of the Chavón plaza. Heavenly!
Having recently undergone a little bit of a renovation, La Cantina Latin Bistro is no doubt looking forward to showing off it’s new decor and menu to the ladies of the Café de la Leche. Throughout the gathering, La Cantina will be serving a selection of mini-versions of their regular dishes, so everyone can enjoy a taste of their new menu which includes Mexican, Latin American and Dominican foods. An array of refreshing summertime drinks; ginger & mint lemonade, strawberry smoothies and “watermelonade” as well as a wine tasting by El Catador will also be served.
“We decided to host a Café de la Leche to help the children of the Hogar del Niño, we also wanted to encourage more of Casa de Campo’s younger crowd to attend this important fundraising event. Like the Café de la Leche hosted at the Casa de Campo Yacht Club [click here for photos], gentleman are also invited to come along.
We really looking forward to it, we’re sure everyone is going to enjoy the new menu and “look” at La Cantina, Altos de Chavón. we’ve been getting good feedback from the locals – and tourists love the “arroz con habichuela” (rice and beans).
Some of our most popular dishes are the Ceviche – which is a favorite of many, the Croquetas and Mojito Shrimp Bites are well received also, as well as the Chicken Crepe with platano maduro, the Churrasco and our burgers always receive good comments… See you at the Café de la Leche when you can taste it all for yourself!”

The gathering, which unites the Casa de Campo community; residents and villa owners, as well as occasional Casa de Campo resort guests, is a charitable occasion which gathers funds and milk supplies for the “Crib Room” at the Hogar del Niño. The “crib room” is probably the most popular place in the Hogar del Niño and is where more than 200 babies are cared for everyday. It is the milk donations gathered at the monthly Café de la Leche events that account for more than 40% of the milk drank by these little ones.

Contribution: dried/powdered milk, cereals or baby formula or RD$750
The Cafe de la Leche is a monthly charitable event, a little like a coffee or a tea party held for the ladies of Casa de Campo (although men are occasionally invited) and usually takes place on the first Friday of the month, hosted by a member of the Casa de Campo villa at her Casa de Campo villa or occasionally restaurant/business.
