Casa de Campo Copa Semana Santa poloYesterday Wednesday April 1st, the Casa de Campo Copa Semana Santa continued with the first game of the low goal division as the Zatara team made its Casa de Campo debut vs Azimut. Among the crowd watching the game unfold was Alice Caslini de Moriconi and her father Mauro Caslini of IBI Yachts based in the Marina Casa de Campo, representatives of AZIMUT in the Caribbean, who were happy to see their team in action.

While not quiet as exciting as the high goal games we have enjoyed over the last 2 weeks, the face-off between Azimut and Zatara had plenty of thrilling moments and we look forward to seeing both teams play again in the finals this Saturday April 4th – remember the celebrations start from 11am so get there early! Now over to Casa de Campo Director of Polo for a rundown on the action:

Casa de Campo Copa Semana Santa, low goal – by Calixto Garcia-Velez

Omar Fernandez team captain for Zatara played his best game of the year scoring (3) very nice goals ably assisted by Teto Castillo. Heriberto Constanza the team play maker sent some long passes up the field which powered his team to a 8-3 lead. Casa de Campo polo Calixto Garcia-VelezMeanwhile Azimut took to the field for the first time together today and were a bit out of sync. Local Casa de Campo villa owner Herbert Schoderbock just returning from an elbow injury, scored two amazing goals plus one more that he hit out of the air from fifty yards, eliciting a big round of applause from the spectators and kickstarting a mini comeback for Azimut. Oscar Quintero started to warm up in the third chukker and made some great passes to Herbert while exerting pressure on the Zatara players causing them to make some mistakes which helped Azimut climb back into the match. It was Oscar Quintero’s first official tournament match and he did not disappoint. Both Oscar and Omar are new to the game and both played extremely well. Casa de Campo Copa Semana Santa polo In the end, Zatara was the better team pulling away with the win 9-6, but don’t count Azimut out yet as they have a great chance to make the finals…
