Stella Artois Cidre tailgating

OK, OK, so we’re obsessed with “tailgating”… well so what? When you discover a new and exciting thing TO DO in Casa de Campo why not embrace it and tell the world (or at least the Casa de Campo world)? So for those of you wondering what all the fuss is about – come join us this Thursday April 2nd!

This Thursday April 2nd is a very special day because not only is it a half-day off work (woohoo), but it is also the last day of the tournament rounds of the Casa de Campo Copa Semana Santa polo tournament, AND it’s also the night we celebrate the Sunset Jazz Night with Veuve Clicquot and Chivas 18! We hope you’re ready for some fun… because this Thursday April 2nd is when the Semana Santa celebrations start!

Tailgating with Stella Artois Cidre

We’ll be getting the party started at the Casa de Campo polo fields where we’ll be “tailgating” (see below for a definition) and watching the final tournament rounds of the Casa de Campo Copa Semana Santa polo tournament. At 2:30pm it’ll be Hola vs. Marat Legal Lopera, followed by La Carbuccia vs. Lechuza CTE at 4:30pm.

Stella Artois Cidre? Well on this occasion, our friends at Stella Artois have given us some 100 bottles of Stella Artois Cidre (cider) to share with our friends who come along and enjoy the polo with us!

So join us for polo, Stella Artois Cidre, tailgating and fun in the sun! What better way to start the Semana Santa celebrations?

So what is “tailgating”?

Tailgating Casa de Campo Copa Semana Santa 1

Ok so first of all let me admit that I was a little bewildered by the concept at first too, so if you’re wondering what is this weird and wonderful new Casa de Campo pass time, here’s the basic definition:

Tailgating is to host or attend a social gathering at which an informal meal (and drinks) is served from the back of a parked vehicle. In the US this is often done in the car park of a sports stadium before watching a game.

In the case of polo, “tailgating” is an entirely more elegant affair. It may typically include an extravagant picnic, champagne, chairs, blankets, and is done from the back of your parked car at the edge of the polo field – enabling you to watch the game and enjoy your picnic.

The celebrations continue…

But that’s not all!

Immediately following the tailgating and polo it’ll be time to head over to the Azimut Café in the Marina Casa de Campo where you’re cordially invited to continue the celebrations at the Sunset Jazz Night from 6pm, being sponsored by Veuve Clicquot and Chivas 18. Click here for more information.

AND on Saturday April 4th is the grand finale of them all… the finals of the Casa de Campo Copa Semana Santa – with events and activities all day from 11am to 6pm this will be polo like it’s never been done before in the Dominican Republic.

Just check out our video for a glimpse of what’s to come:
