The Altos de Chavón Regional Museum of Archeology invites you to a series of artistic movies as part of the upcoming Art Chavón fundraising event for the Altos de Chavón Cultural Foundation. 

The Art Chavón Film Series will be screened on the 19th, 20th and 23rd of February, with movies on the lives of famous artists; Frida Kahlo, Vincent Van Gogh and Georgia O’Keefe. All members of the Casa de Campo community, as well as visitors are invited to join us to learn more about the lives of these artist – while also contributing to a good cause. Attendance to each movie screening costs RD$200, which is 100% destined to the Altos de Chavón Cultural Foundation, on this occasion for the students of the Altos de Chavón School of Design.

The main event of Art Chavón 2014 is scheduled to be celebrated on Thursday the 27th of February. Art Chavón 2014 is not only your chance to give to a good cause – the Altos de Chavón Cultural Center Foundation – but also to invest in the future of Dominican art and design! Although perhaps the most well-known component of the Altos de Chavón Cultural Foundation is the Altos de Chavón School of Design, also supported by the foundation is the Altos de Chavón Regional Museum of Archeology, home to more than 3,000 Pre-Columbian and Taino artefacts.

The Art Chavón Film Series 

Frida Kahlo
Her work has been celebrated in Mexico as emblematic of national and indigenous traditions, and by feminist for its uncompromising depiction of the female experience and form.
When: Wednesday February 19th, 6pm

Vincent Van Gogh
He was a post-impressionist painter of Dutch origin whose work, notable for its rough beauty, emotional honesty and bold color, had a far-reaching influence on 20th-century art.
When: Thursday February 20th, 6pm

Georgia O’Keefe
She was an American artist, known for her paintings of flowers, rocks, shells, animal bones, and landscapes in which she synthesized abstraction and representation.
When: Sunday February 23rd, 6pm
