Scheduled to be celebrated on Thursday the 27th of February, Art Chavón 2014 is not only your chance to give to a good cause – the Altos de Chavón Cultural Center Foundation – but also to invest in the future of Dominican art and design!

Taking place for the second time in the Altos de Chavón art gallery, the event not only raises much needed funds for the school – who offer scholarships to many talented and deserving young artists, but is also a fantastic showcase of all the excellent work these students achieve whilst in Altos de Chavón.

During the gathering you can expect to find the entire gallery overflowing with unique and sophisticated works of art – all created by both current and pasts students of the Altos de Chavón School of Art and Design. And as all these pieces are being auctioned off for the cause – hence the opportunity for YOU to invest in the future of Dominican art and design!

Having attended and loved this event last year, I can whole-heartedly recommend it, not only did I have a great time getting to know the Altos de Chavón School and the students better – but I also took home 2 beautiful pieces of art.

The Foundation is a U.S. not-for-profit entity, and the proceeds will go principally to support students unable to meet their expenses at The School of Design. As lodging and tuition for a year costs Dominican students US$3,700—very reasonable by many standards—the funds will help a good many talented and qualified students.
