Blue Marlin Fishing

The Marina Casa de Campo has just announced that a new fishing tournament; the “Blue Marlin Classic” has been added to it’s schedule of events and activities for 2014.

The tournament, being brought to Casa de Campo by Rick Alvarez of International Billfish Tournaments, Inc., will take place on Saturday and Sunday the 22nd and 23rd of March – in the midst of the Casa de Campo fishing season, which runs from February to May.

“In this year’s recent 2013 blue marlin season, a total of 621 blues were released by boats fishing out of Marina Casa de Campo. The top single day catch belonged to “Caroline” releasing 11 blues in a single day on April 24th 2013. Numbers such as these convinced us that it is time to organize a tournament… with all the usual ingredients that have characterized our events at other locations! Because it will be our first time at the Marina Casa de Campo, we are going to run a two day tournament.”

— Rick Alvarez, tournament director for International Billfish Tournaments, Inc.

In addition to the fishing, the tournament will be accompanied by great parties, and of course there will trophies and prizes for the winners.

It looks like the 2014 fishing season is already shaping up to be a great one!
