This week! From Monday September 1st to Saturday the 6th, 2014, the first DR Golf Travel Exchange is taking place in the Dominican Republic – here in Casa de Campo, as well as in Punta Cana.
With the aim of promoting the Dominican Republic as the #1 golf destination in the Caribbean, as well as increase the popularity of golf within the Dominican Republic, it is no surprise that Casa de Campo was chosen by TARGET (Marketing Consulting Company/Organizers of this event) to host a seminar, workshop and golf tournament to open the event.
The first DR Golf Travel Exchange will be here in Casa de Campo from Monday September 1st to Wednesday September 3rd, and the group will be departing to Punta Cana on Thursday September 4th for the second half of the gathering.
Taking part in the event are golf tour operators, travel agents and members of the international press who will have the opportunity to meet with hotel managers, golf directors and local tour operators to boast golf related tourism, events and activities. Authorities from the Dominican Ministry of Tourism, National Golf Commission and the Dominican Golf Federation (FEDOGOLF) as well as Peter Walton, Chairman of the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO), will also attend the event.
Following an elegant welcome cocktail on their first evening in Casa de Campo, the event will open with a ‘Dominican Republic Golf Industry Seminar’ led by Mr. Nicolas Vargas, president of the National Committee of Golf, as well as Mr. Juan Cohen, president of the Dominican Federation of Golf (FEDOGOLF) and Mr. Peter Walton president of IAGTO.
Other activities include a networking workshop, a tour of the Casa de Campo complex, dinner at the Beach Club by Le Cirque at Minitas Beach, and finally a golf tournament on the Teeth of the Dog.
The golf tournament will be held on the September 3rd on Casa de Campo’s golden golf course: The Teeth of the Dog. Our precious Teeth of the Dog designed by Pete Dye and opened in 1971, this year hosted the DR Open, the first professional golf tournament hosted in Casa de Campo, as well as many other golf tournaments organized by both national and international enterprises. This golf course has been the reason why Casa de Campo has been crowned “The World’s Leading Golf Resort” for 7 consecutive years and is currently ranked #1 golf course in the Caribbean (click here for details).
