Did you know today is World Tourism Day? Yes, it is. World Tourism Day (WTD), celebrated every year on the 27th of September, is a global observance to highlight tourism’s social, cultural, political and economic value. And here in the Dominican Republic specifically in the Casa de Campo resort, we feel very proud of belonging to such a beautiful and attractive place!
In honor of World Tourism Day (WTD) we thought we’d do something special for our Casa de Campo tourists, so here we bring you top 7 essential Casa de Campo experiences!
1. Visit the Teeth of the Dog
The Teeth of the Dog, with five oceanside holes is the Caribbean’s number 1 golf course, and the resort’s most famous attraction, yet unbelievably many visitors never even see it. Golfer or not, the Teeth of the Dog is the resort’s most beautiful area, so if you’re not going to play it, you can walk it, bike it, or even take your golf cart around. If you’re short on time just do holes 15 to 17 and 5 to 8, and remember to go after 6pm or before 7:30am to avoid the golfers.
2. A piña colada at Minitas
Served in a whole pineapple, the Piña Colada at Minitas is actually hollowed out before your eyes and if you ask nicely you can enjoy the pineapple chunks as a snack. There is no better way to relax at the water’s edge.
3. Discover Altos de Chavón
It’s one of the Dominican Republic’s top tourist attractions for a reason, visit it – it’s worth it for the view alone.
4. Exploring the Chavón river
The Chavón river is amazing! A place of great natural beauty for us to explore on our doorstep! There are a number of ways to explore the Chavón river; on a kayak trip with the Casa de Campo hotel ( from US$30 p/p, reservations at ext.3165); on your own private yacht; or on a speed boat ride (ask at Minitas Beach for departures, US$100 for up to 7 people.)
5. Golf cart adventuring
Grab a few chilled beers and just go. It doesn’t matter where, wherever you go you’ll see beautiful homes, nature and, of course the golf courses.
6. Live the Sporting Life
Whether it’s golf, tennis, polo, horseback riding, fishing, sailing, yoga or shooting, you can do it in style here in Casa.
7. Pamper & relax
The Casa de Campo spa offers excellent treatments and has a fabulous “Water Treatment Room” where you can relax and enjoy the sauna, steam room and hot and cold plunge pools.
