The 19th edition of the McDaniel’s Tennis Tournament, organized by PBO for the second consecutive year, occurred from March 7 to March 10. It united Casa de Campo’s tennis enthusiasts to support a worthy cause. Dedicated to advancing the McDaniel Tennis Program’s initiatives, the tournament remained a pivotal event within the community, raising funds for the education of ball boys and providing health insurance for players.

Kicking off at the Racquet Center of Casa de Campo on Thursday, March 7, the tournament progressed through the quarter-finals the following day. Semi-finals were held on Saturday, March 9, at the La Romana Country Club, leading to the finals and awards ceremony on Sunday, March 10.

In the final match, Edwing Arturo Inirio and Javier de la Cruz De los Santos emerged victorious against Angelo Josué Hamilton and Freilyn Adrian Batista de Aza in pros category A.

Other winners celebrated were Josue Alexis Carreño and Junior Alexander Pounder in the pros category B and Oneil Berroa and Jhon Sebastián Calderón in the boleritos category, each exemplifying excellence on the court.

The tournament’s roots trace back almost 20 years to when Mr. Rick McDaniel, inspired by a golf charity event for caddies, recognized the need to extend similar support to ball boys and players. Along with his Marty Chattman and other Casa de Campo residents, McDaniel initiated the tournament, evolving its mission from English language education for ball boys to scholarship provision and medical insurance coverage for players.

McDaniel’s enduring support for PBO underscores his unwavering dedication to philanthropy. He entrusted the organization with continuing his legacy. Since 2023, PBO has proudly upheld this tradition, ensuring transparency and efficacy in its endeavors to benefit the Hogar del Niño.

Mr. McDaniel, an avid supporter of the PBO, has trusted in the transparent work benefiting the Hogar del Niño and sees no better candidate to continue this legacy, which is why the PBO began to work in this tournament in 2023

Congratulations to the winners and players, and a big thank you to all the sponsors and supporters for another successful and wonderful McDaniel Tennis Tournament 2024! Remember, it’s never too late or early to donate!
