The 13th Annual McDaniel Tennis Tournament is just around the corner, and when we say ‘around the corner’ we mean it’s NEXT WEEK!! So mark your calendars and get out to support this fun event which raises funds for health insurance and scholarships for the players and ball boys of Casa de Campo.
Since 2005 this organization has been dedicated to providing assistance and support for all the Tennis Ball Boys and Working Players in Casa de Campo’s La Terraza Tennis Center and La Romana Country Club. Rick McDaniel explains: “In 2005 while playing in the Annual CdC Caddies Tournament I asked my playing partner, Marty Chattman, “Why doesn’t someone start a tournament for our Tennis Teaching Pros”? Marty replied, “That’s a good suggestion and since it was your idea why don’t you do it!” So in 2006 with the cooperation of the La Romana Country Club, we held our first tournament.”
It has been 13 years since that first tournament and it has provided the help that the pro’s and ball boys need in regards to health insurance and scholarships. This year the tournament will be played from the 7th to the 11th of March 2018 at La Romana Country Club, a competition between the professional players of both Casa de Campo’s tennis clubs; the La Terraza and La Romana Country Club. Doubles have been incredibly successful for this tournament so this will be the 3rd year with pre-arranged draws, featuring 20 of the best players in Casa de Campo.
This year Mr. McDaniel has prepared a very special surprise for all the attendees, on Wednesday 7th two tennis pro’s from his club in the states will be coming down to DR to play an exhibition match with two of Casa’s pro! How fun will that be?! See below the complete schedule of events.
Donations go specifically to the Player’s Health Insurance, the Ball Boys Scholarship Fund and College Scholarships for two students. Contribution checks in dollars can be made out to McDaniel Family Foundation, and in pesos to Fundación Familia Daniel. Any member of the the McDaniel Tennis Committee will be pleased to accept your donation, or you may drop it off at the LRCC office. Thursday, March 8th, 9 am – Tournament play starts at La Romana Country Club
Friday, March 9th, 9 am – Tournament quarterfinals at La Romana Country Club
Saturday, March 10th, 9 am – Tournament semi-finals at La Romana Country Club
Sunday, March 11th, 11 am – Finals at La Romana Country Club followed by the Awards Ceremony for all the players at 4 pm
